Alexander the Great Parkette

The renovation of the Alexander the Great Parkette in Toronto's Greektown on the Danforth revitalizes a cherished community landmark. Known for hosting local gatherings and celebrations, the parkette's materials had deteriorated over time. FFLA approached the redesign sensitively, reinterpreting existing elements like the fountain, trees, and colonnade, inspired by the golden ratio originally defined by Euclid.

The new design opens the parkette to the street, creating a more welcoming frontage. The old stage and columns were replaced with a graceful peristyle colonnade at-grade that defines the parkette's edge while providing clear access around the new raised stage. This transformation offers a versatile open area suited for both events and daily use.

The result is a refreshed, multi-functional space that honours the heritage and spirit of Toronto's Greektown. Work was completed in late 2024.
