Cedarcrest Greenspace and J. Conkwright Park

Set within a busy urban neighbourhood that is economically mixed, this public park is used by immediate neighbours, and as a thoroughfare for pedestrians trying to shorten their trip. It has potential to be a community attraction. The intent of the project is primarily to create a safe, accessible path through a parking lot. The connecting park and green space adjacent to the trail will also be upgraded. The new playground will be designed to be both accessible and visually attractive, while providing a wide range of play elements to accommodate both junior and senior age groups. It will receive new asphalt pathway connections, trees for shade, play equipment, new play surfacing and bench seating. Joshua Cronkwright was a special boy, loved in the neighbourhood for his enthusiasm for this park. He brought together the members of his community. He died in 2000. The park was named after him and a plaque honours him here.
