Joseph Burr Tyrrell Park
FFLA worked with the neighbourhood community and City of Toronto departments, facilitating community consultation for park circulation, layout, furnishing and play structure options for community comment and selection. FFLA completed technical drawings for tender, acquired City of Toronto Forestry permits, and completed contract administration for the construction of the project. Construction is underway currently and includes a reconstruction/realignment of the park entranceways, circulation and peripheral social spaces. New benches, picnic tables, perennial planting areas, pedestrian lighting and bottle filling station is being implemented. A complex play structure for older children, toddler play structure, swings and sand area surrounded by boulders and logs emulate a dinosaur theme. Dinosaur bones are hidden in the sand area. FFLA developed a wall, fence and planting bed layout that respects the chosen scheme while accommodating the requirements of the City. The playground and park were completed in fall 2021.
